Hastings resident Joanna Bayers filed to run for a Hastings At Large City Council seat on Monday, June 2nd. Bayers currently serves on the Hastings Public Safety Advisory Commission. Bayers says her top priority in running for City Council is to ensure Hastings continues to be a welcoming community for all. The current decrease in student enrollment is a concern for her. “We need to continue to make Hastings a great place to live, work and do business,” Bayers says. Bayers received her Masters in Advocacy and Political Leadership from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2008 and works for the state of Minnesota.
